The contrabassoon fulfils a supportive and blending role within the modern symphony orchestra as well as occasional prominence as a solo instrument. 

The quest for a reed which can provide the balance for the instrument's role, is, for all of us, ongoing. Our changing needs and ever new challenges make us strive for greater strength and breadth of tone, new sound colours, greater flexibility and distinction.
